The Saskatchewan Handgun Association provides support for both individual members and clubs.  Listed below are a few of the areas where support is provided.  For further information, contact any SHA executive member or e-mail us.
  • MAP grant funding for member clubs.  This funding must be used under the criteria outlined in the SHA policy and procedure manual.  An example of a MAP grant funding application would be to cover the expenses to hold an introductory learn-to-shoot night in your community.  Another example is to purchase equipment needed to start or develop a junior shooting program at your club.
  • Range Officer's Courses.  The SHA has a Nationally certified conductor, who will upon request, conduct a range officer's course at your club.  As this is a requirement under our insurance coverage, the SHA requires all member clubs to maintain certified range officers.  The major expenses of putting on these courses is covered by the SHA.
  • Coaching Certification Courses.  The SHA conducts Level I and II coaching clinics yearly.  The dates and locations are announced in our newsletters and posted on this website in the programs area.  The major costs of putting on these clinics is covered by the SHA.  Members requesting to take Level III or higher are asked to make written application to the SHA for funding.
  • Youth Shooting Program Incentives.  The SHA provides funding for all our member club youth shooting programs to attend SHA sanctioned matches within the province.  This funding is available to help defray the travel and hotel costs for our junior shooters, and encourage them to attend matches in outlying areas.
  • Learn-to-Shoot Programs.  The SHA provides funding and volunteer support to host learn-to-shoot programs in all areas of the province.  In particular, we emphasize juniors, ladies and disabled athletes at these events.
  • Training Camps.  The SHA hosts at least one high-level training camp each year.  This camp is meant for our serious athletes.  We also will put on training camps for beginner shooters, or for athletes who wish to improve within the sport.  The SHA has certified coaches who can provide most training camp needs.  In some cases the SHA brings in National Coaches for its elite athlete camps.
